It's an arduino, you only use the USB cable to program the chip. I know this since I read it in several places in the past, and recognised the hardware Twiizers were using.

And just because it looks superficially like an arduino doesn't make it an arduino board. The only people who know for sure are team twiizers.

Alright serrin, I'll just accept what your saying, it is a ridiculous task to do. My new question for everybody is

What the hell does that mean? It was "confirmed" that Sakura isn't open source, so how are "users" going to upgrade the software?

And also, the DSi has 5 light scales, why does this only have 4?

the kernal can be updated, and users can drag and drop an updated sakura firmware onto the microsd card and boot it
the actual cart does not contain any boot information most likely

"users may upgrade" How does that not make sense? It means users can upgrade you know like putting a new firmware made by the M3 team and such. Usually they like to copypasta their functions if they can but add a little so yeah. (might be wrong)

Hmm this looks great but i already have an acekard2i. I dont know if i should get this and sell my acekard to a friend. Ill have to wait for the review though. Its good to know that this card will have updateable firmware just in case nintendo wants to block it

Although they could make it open source simply by releasing the source code, team m3/g6 could argue that the flashcart itself may not contain any copyrighted material because the kernel resides on the SD card and since their product is the flashcart itself, and sakura resides in the SD card, that statement is technically true. It could also just a translation error because of babelfish/google translate.

Hmm, I highly doubt that this will see light of day outside of seedy stores in the Asian districts of town in the States. Mainly because this circumvents the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. In other countries, this product still is a niche product which also sort of makes all other game carts redundant. Not really a good idea to bite the hand that feeds you.

That may be true. How are users going to upgrade it though? Does it simply mean "users are going do put the latest firmware we made onto their card" OR does it mean we get a way to modify the firmware?

Ok so they don't give a technical answer but simply put, if slot 1 cards could play GBA games, they would have done it ages ago.

Yeah I'm being pessimistic, but I don't want to inspire false hope for those who are looking to buy a M3i (or any other flashcart for that matter). The makers don't promise DSi game support nor GBA game support and expecting them to prove it is like expecting the government to give you money for no reason. They might and you can wish it in your heart, but don't go saying that they will because you'll inspire false hope in others and then the forums will be clogged with questions like "why doesn't my M3i play DSiware or GBA games". My pessimism kicking in again.

The m3ds real can play gba games if it has a gba expansion in the gba slot at the same time. It is most likely that if you use m3i zero on a lite/phat and use the gba expansion you can play gba games on it. It has been slot one flashcards that play gba games a while now. the only extra device that is needed is a gba expansion wich add extra ram.

Ok, maybe I should have clarified myself. Slot-1 devices can't play GBA games by themselves. You need some sort of slot-2 device as well. What team m3/g6 are calling a GBA expansion card is really a slot-2 device, which needs a pass-me device in slot-1 to start. Even though the games are stored on the M3/M3i, the game is actually run off the GBA expansion card which doesn't merely just add extra RAM, it adds the ability to play GBA games.
On an aside, 15th of July (in Australia and China, where Gamezway are based) and still my M3i has yet to ship. *sigh* I should probably start studying for my exam tomorrow.

I ordered this cart - for my new DSi - from 4CoolDay, and it just got shipped. I'm going give with some feedback when it arrives.

Mine was delivered today....... Untill there is an update to the firmware, it is pretty much an M3 Real that works in a DSi.....

The card reader like all the other free ones isnt much good, it feels like I will break my SD card trying to force it in to it.

The plug on the end of the firmware update cable that plugs into the card itself is just a bare ribbon connector, good thing it does not have to be used a lot I dont think it would take the stress of unplugging and re plugging.

The firmware update wouldnt work from my 16gb card but ran ok from my 8gb card, have no idea why.

It uses the standard M3 system files.

The chip in the card sticks out quite a bit.

That says it works and updates as it should... time will tell if the firware update works as it should....

If I find anything interesting I will post.....
