Hacking M3 team dying?

I thought it was a mistake for the M3 team to stop production on the M3 Perfect as quickly as they did. As far as I can tell, it was the best of the best when it came to slot2 carts. Expensive, but worth every penny. They could have still been making money on that cart, but it's too late to bring it back into production now I guess.

I think the M3 team may be becoming disinterested in what they are doing. At least, it seems that way to me....like they don't really care anymore.

They could always do what acekard did and release source code so someone else can work on. Unlikely though.

that would basically lead to sakura running on all carts, not good for the m3 team when a $5 r4 clone can run the same firmware

Thier dev teams are in the M3, the G6, iTouch, the R4 clones they support and the hardware devices they also sell. They are already spread thin as it is. They have 2 OSes on the M3 Real/Zero, who ever said they had to release Sakura, they also have the touchpod interface, they only need to release enough of the code to run, manage and access certain functions.

There is also the signed method of preventing such things to run on other flashcarts. Considering how AKAIO has developed and turned out, likelyhood of Sakura running on all R4 clones is unlikely.

All the carts you mentioned the M3 Team gets revenue from, so they don't lose anything from having so many flashcarts anyways.

I think they just need to create a loaders system for Sakura and make the loaders open source.

It is not the fact that they get money for those things, it is the rate at which they receive that income. It probably doesn't pay to keep the devs full time anymore.

Either way, they don't have a stellar record with anyone else who can do updates of any kind other than them. They would rather let their stuff die off rather than open source something like sakura or the touchpod. I don't see them doing anything to benifit them if it means giving up some control.

I would have to say after a whole month of no updates, not a single word from them, hell not even a hint that they are working on anything. That the M3 team is either dead or plotting something. I am going with the first one.
I mean with the latest updates they did nothing for fixing any of the games they claimed to fix, hell not even Maple Story DS was fixed and there was even a patch released for it. They released Touchpod with a broken skin file, but really Touchpod has become slow as hell and bloated beyond believe. Really I don't want to bash the M3 since I loved my Real so much, but I have to say by this point M3 has become R4.

sad and unfortunate

Peh....

As far as I was concerned, they were dead over half a year ago.

I mean whats this, one of their last firmware releases borked GBA loading in Sakura.

Which is why I got my Acekard and Supercard DSOnei, and my EZ Flash 3-in-one GBA Pack.

As far as I'm concerned, my M3 is just like my DSTT. Outdated, rarely updated, and utterly useless.

That is good news! I do hope the m3 team sticks around as I do not want to buy another flash card, I love my m3 real but their recent lack of updates and lack of info has worried me. I still think the m3 real is great and in all respects just as good as many of the other cards out there. I just really hope m3 doesn't become the next r4, but if it does I hope someone will be nice enough to create a 3rd party firmware such as akaio or wood r4. Either way as long as it plays the games I'll be happy!

given recent issues, i'll believe it when i see it.

it's less the time between updates, and more the efficacy of the last few.

I do want this update, and i'm hoping that all this extra time in the oven means that it will come out right.

I did have hope the team wasn't dead because throughout all this time support has been answering peoples comments on the M3i Forum.

This is just a hunch, but maybe they were trying to make a new F_CORE for compatibility for the Wii or any other things the cart can hook up to?
Either way, I'm glad it's they're back to updating. c:

well handheldsources.com is down atm lol, well down more like domain expired

taking them so long to release an update, I hope it's Kaura

I think they completely stopped Kaura because of the Quint/Hex Boot T.T

Not likely. You'd probably end up bricking your M3.

Well, it could be a theory that the reason why they took so long is because they tried that.
