Hacking M3 DS Real and micro sd cards?

I've now been through 3 SD-Micro sd adapters. 3 Micro SD cards, it appears something has killed all of them. What kind of card reader do you guys use? I have "SanDisk Image Mate 5 in 1 reader". Is that killing all my cards? I've never safely removed anything from windows, 99% of the time it doesn't make a difference. Are SD cards just really sensitive to that possibly? I can't figure out what keeps dying.
** I just used the reader that came with the DS real for the first time, and it was at first able to read my micro sd card. I then extracted the system files onto it, and it died at 99% unable to read my drive, windows error etc...

I'm still using the adapter that came with my M3Real.
None of my cards have any trouble with it.
Maybe I just got lucky,
but I've ALWAYS used the 'safely remove' option.

Perhaps you should try that.

Well i used an extra 1g card i had sitting around. I KNOW it is good(works in my phone). Tried the 2gb card in my phone got an error there too. But the 1g card doesn't work on any of the readers except the one that came with the DS Real(Which i've heard ruins your cards). Either way i formatted, set it up, and it's working now, played a game. So I'm gonna go buy another 2gb card, and possibly another reader if someone has any suggestions?
How many GB does ds real support in micro cards?

Up to 16GB SDHC (currently), it now supports any Future SDHC that may come out as well...
Maybe stick with using the official reader that came with the M3 DS Real, could solve these problems of yours

Also, try formatting with the Panasonic SD Formatter - that thing works wonders.

ALWAYS use safely remove hardware, it only takes an extra few seconds. If you break your cards because of tha, you deserve it--especially on a relic running Windows 98.

I don't see a reference from cdogg777 stating that he is running Windows 98. However I will say that on any Windows, you should safely remove the memory card. It can cause all sorts of memory corruption problems.

I believe that from Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows no longer caches any requests to modify files on removable drives (I am pretty sure that I have read this somewhere). However if something is accessing the card or writing to the card while you just jank out the memory card reader (or the card itself), then the risk of corruptions is still there. If you use the safely remove feature of windows, this issue will not occur because a message will pop up saying that something is accessing the removable drive.

The moral of the story is, just safely remove your removable drives. It takes two seconds and it's not a big deal to do it. I guess you can just pull out the device if you are sure that nothing is accessing the device with the newer versions of Windows, however it is a risk.

I do not have win98, lol. And as said above, is the same reason I don't ever use safely remove. I've never really messed with micro sd cards much, but i've had a million USB flash drives, thumb drives, and other usb devices. And i've NEVER used it, and NEVER had one go bad.

Has anyone heard anything about the little usb/reader that comes with the DS Real, ruining Micro SD cards? I heard that on another forum.

I use a little Dynex reader. I use it on my 2 cards and 5 other family members cards. All A-Data Class 6. One is a 8GB but the rest are 4GB because I did notice games like Animal Crossing tended to lag a tad in the bigger card. I've never had a single problem as far as corruption or anything like that. One of those family members did start using their own card reader to deal with their card and shortly after ended up with some corrupt files. After format she hasn't had any continued problem with it, not sure what brand her reader is.

Anyway, good luck, and don't be lazy. Take the 2 seconds to safely remove. Treat your electronics with respect and they will love you long time :0).

*edit* As for the stock reader for the m3, if I remember right the problems were with the old adapter that used to get shipped with it. Though I've never used mine just in case.

I've been in the IT field for over 9years, "safely remove hardware" is not nessesary for 99% of devices. And as i stated i've never really messed with Micro SD cards, so it appears they might be a little more fragile.
I'm just gonna use this 1gb card, use the stock reader, and always safely remove=) And hope it keeps for me. If it does, I might eventually get a larger card.
