Gaming Looking for Double Dragon Type games

I was wondering if there any good games that are like Double Dragon or River City Ransom.

I haven't seen any and was wondering if anyone may know of some. They can be imports as well.
The story doesn't matter as long as its got pretty good game play.

I have briefly played a full metal alchemist game that was a beatem up on ds. The fighting was kinda old school and you can skip the story elements in between levels.

There are games with great gameplay but I can't think of any. I hope somebody lists a few. I have also been meaning to play some good hardcore games. At the moment I am replaying Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars for DS until I get my PSP in the mail.

If you're looking for a beat-em-all, Ninja Gaiden - Dragon Sword is definitely worth playing.

Yea I don't like the Tokyo game. How come none of the companies have made a game like Double Dragon and River City Ransom? Old school beat downs with an rpg element, leveling moves and gaining new ones.

hahahahaha, we get lots of those on GBA but not on DS
not only that...
these games hardly appear on current generations console...
guess the taste of the gamers shifted or these game don't sell ?

river city ransom is always my favourite..
too bad they never bring all the series to DS
there is RPG beat em up river random on DS2
that one was really pretty fun!! you roam around kansai (osaka and etc) seek for revenge

another one our dear kunio was framed....
he got to run out from jail and revenge

as far as i know ...
ninja turtle and bleach do have these type of games on DS..
rest not sure
