i'd prefer it not be based in china as I was ripped off by a chinese company last time buying gateway. i checked shoptemp.net but the reviews appear to be years out of date. thanks

Any reason why your not going for arm9 loader instead of sky or gate
 
If you need a gateway. I ordered from gateway-3ds-buy.com and i got it in like 2 weeks. Sadly i believe it was from hong kong, I also did freak out at first when they didnt send a tracking number after a few days, but it eventually was sent to me through email.

I can vogue for them that it is a genuine card.
 
whats an arm9 loader? im on old 3ds xl btw. and to biff when i tried to return a defective card they stop emailing me after shipping out the defective product and i tried multiple times so email them. it didnt work, so thats a no go.
 
Arm9loaderhax is the newest cfw loader atm(I beleive) and it makes booting into cfw's way faster and has a 100% boot rate. It also is (semi)Brick proof by allowing you to boot things befoer your nand. So you an boot the newest decrypt9 and restore your nands if they become bricked. It has chances of bricking while setting it up but it is very worth it. You could just downgrade to 9.2 and use menuhax to boot up a cfw. Safer than downgrading to the required firmware to get an OTP.bin( console unique code that is needed to install a9lh) from version 2.1. A9LH is quite worth it imo but some prefer menuhax which is totally fine as is. You would probbaly still need a sky3ds to emulate cubic ninja to use sysupdater, Or get OOT and get a powersave which may be a little cheaper. Either way you take with the cfw, they are both good, its just preference.

I couldnt remember, but I believe I got mine from there as well. But i sadly got the blue one beforehand as well..
 
Thew blue one only allows you to go forward in the game list, the orange one allows you to go back and forth

Also the orange one doesnt require formatting the sd card to a partition for it to read.
And i believe that the orange one doesnt need a templete file

The orange one also supports the newest games like zelda triforce heroes. they have extra checks that the blue cart cannot replicate
 
Make sure you get the Orange Button edition if you are dead set on purchasing one, and also make sure if you plan to go online with it that you find a way to get a private header to use.

Also, I have bought all my flashcarts from modchipsdirect and have never had an issue with them. So far I bought a R4 RTS 3DS, DSTwo, Sky3ds Blue Button, and sky3ds+ (sky3ds orange button). Everything is always prompt and the prices are generally not overly high.

ok found the orange one. ill be ptting in an order now thanks!

btw the reason why i didnt try new cfw in 9.2.x is becuase i've had icredibly bad luck and had to go to 10.3 to get the homebrew launcher to have a reassonable crash rate. Plus I don't have to worry about firmware anymore with this. I've had a rough year or so with this and i can't wait for the night mare to be over.

The first time I did old 3ds with cubic ninja a second one I did with menuhax on n3ds you don't need the carts anymore if I'm not mistaken

10.4 or lower or wait for yellow 8s to work on higher

I've gotten several things from nds-card.com. I know you said you don't want to order from China, but nds-card is very reliable, and has long been gbatemp's sole sponsor. I would imagine they wouldn't want to risk that sponsorship by ripping people off.
 
I got mine from http://www.modchipcentral.com which is based in Ontario. I believe they do ship to the US as well. If you have 2 SD cards of a decent capacity then you can use one for CFW and one for Sky3DS+ (definitely get the orange button or you'll need to set up a CFW anyway, since the blue button lacks updateable firmware).

I like it for that reason and I also like running games off of a card instead of filling my 3ds up with cia's, just my personal pref though.

Well I had trouble finding a 128 GB micro SD where I live so I got two 64s, originally for my blue button Sky 3DS. And some people might not be comfortable with downgrading their 3DS.

I use both. When you have like 26 3DS games installed you take up space pretty quickly.
