First off, your Phillips drive firmware is way old. Use this newer firmware for your drive (The archive has all the info how):

Secondly after installing the new firmware, Phillips is Ben-Q so set Book Type under the Ben-Q tab

I installed new Philips Firmware, and i changed booktype to DVD-ROM successfully, but i get same error as before :/

DVDX after you update CIOS

Have you got any backups to work?

Yeh CIOS 249 installed, DVDX, etc....All is OK
At the moment i've only two backups : Sports Island and Ferrari challenge
But soon (4-3hours), i'll get Mario Kart and try with it !

Yeh an DVD+RW disc might be pushing it. Try a standard -r disc burnt at x4 with a game you know should work for a first run.

Place it in a new folder into "apps", and rename it boot.dol

Hi,
im getting the same -4100 error message when i try to load up backups....i know that i have done everything correctly, and believe the problem is when im burning the partition file. Like some other users on here, i am using IMGburn, and i think i need to change the book type to DVD-ROM, but when i go to do it, i can select my driver and i select DVD-ROM, but when i hit the change button an error message appears saying "no additional sence information". Am i doing somthing wrong, like selecting the wrong drive?, or maybe my firmware for it needs updating? Help on this would be appreciated.

I get same error before i upgrade my Burner Firmware...just update, and normally, (i guess) it'll works.

Honestly, the issue is that everyone keeps using imgburn. Imgburn is a free burner and unfortuantely, you get what you pay for. Nero burned a disc for me on the first try and I didn't have to change any settings AND I'm using dvd+rw media!

I also tried using nero, but i get the same results, it burns as a DVD+R instead of DVD-ROM, + i tried updating my DVD writers firmware through device manager, and it tells me i have the latest. Really stuck here

Ive been reading up on the internet, and others have spoke of the same thing happening when they tried to change the book type, the conclusion the have come to is that the DVD writer, or its firmware, does not support changing the book type. But i dont no how true this is, hoping i will not have to buy another DVD writer.

You need to tell us what type of drive you have. The actual name that shows up when you are selecting which drive to durn with, and also what type of media you are using. Normally when a value error occurs it is because th edrive does not support typesetting. A firmware update can 'normally' fix this issue.

Yeah same thing, I can change DVD+R / DVD+RW / +R DL but no -RW ;-(

Any other program to modify the book type on a -RW ?

you don't need to modify any - format and it is not supported to do so anyway
you only need to booktype + format media


I can only get the -4100 error no matter what I do, could it be because I have a chip installed? (D2Pro Clone)
