oh okay, that's good to know, I only have Steel Divers 3DS (free on purchase of 3DS) and Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D along with New Super Mario Bros 2

the Firmware version can Vary for different regions
so please make sure you confirm your region of the game with the database, saddly more EUR than USA on there

So just to clarify, there is no actual need to update the 3DS firmware just to play a legit 3DS game card right? Neither will it force you to update when you put it in? Any updates required is just to enable online play and eshop?

There is no need if your current firmware is greater than or equal to the required firmware on the game. If your firmware is less than the provided one, then you will be unable to play the game until you update.
