Homebrew Like, where do I start?

While I could* carry around my 3ds with a flashcard & use it to play DS Games. Now with the latest release of hacked FW I would like to get a DS and use it to play my backed up DS Games on there. The reason being mainly for nostalgia.

I couldn't find a pinned guide anywhere on how to install the latest CFW or if I needed to downgrade, etc... So to anyone who has like, done it before can I have some like, help .
Could I in the end just buy a DSi XL and be set to go, or how would it work?

Well, there is RocketLaucher, the first CFW for NDSi, But! the cfw is only for 1.1.4X (that sucks) you need also own DSiWarehax, like Zelda Four Swords. I'd choose the flashcard (R4 SDHC is the lastest) and put my games here, even some homebrew. (sadly I only play Pokémon lol) because 3DS bootstrap doesn't support all the DS games. so... uh... just get a R4.

In DSi there is only one way: Hardmod.
Hardmod isn't hard if you know solder.

I thought it's not released yet and the required version should be 1.4.0? also I wouldn't recommend R4 SDHC

RocketLauncher is not a CFW. It only works on 1.4.0. afaik 1.1.4 doesn't even exists. DSiWarehax is not required iirc, it might be for using hiyaCFW. Lastly it's not 3DS bootstrap it's NDS bootstrap. It doesn't do anything on the 3DS that wouldn't be possible on the DSi, and it is named this way as it runs NDS files.

More misinformation YAY (joking). You can downgrade with a DSiWarehax if you have one. Lastly you NEED TWLTool from here https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-twltool-dsi-downgrading-save-injection-etc-multitool.393488/ otherwise you would be risking a brick on your console.
