$450 for the console, $80 for the games, $10 physical surcharge for Europe.

Almost everyone I know is not happy about that pricing. And why would they be, not even the other AAA studios went to $90 pricing for their game releases.

But Nintendo doesn't give a shit.
They've done so many anti-consumer moves in the past. They will keep doing them. And they certainly DGAF about what we think about the price unless it leads to another Wii U situation (why would it? Nintendo clearly marketed it as a new console instead of an add-on).

Might be even higher than they said in the US

Or they're trying to reduce the amount of scalpers purchasing most of their stock. They're getting pretty clever with avoiding that problem.

Most likely you are right abou the scalpers.

I also think, that they couldn't negotiate a better pricing from Nvidia, so that would be a one component why it is more expensive.

I'm not one to defend companies but at least the price of the console itself sounds pretty much exactly what it should be at. Comparing it to other handhelds of similar power they are all around that price.

I hate the pricing, it's an unfortunate combination of inflation and recession, but it's not Nintendo's fault. Everything has seen similar price hikes.
I'll buy the console, but I won't buy every game at full MSRP. I just can't afford it. Probably will just buy the essentials, and wait to play the rest until the console is hacked. Because Nintendo games never fucking drop in price unless there's a player's choice type rerelease. And they haven't had those since the 3DS AFAIK.
Mario Kart World is obviously a must, but Mario Party Jamboree I can just continue playing on my hacked Switch, unless there's significant extra content in the port (there probably isn't), and I don't know if I'll bother with any of the other enhanced ports apart from Zelda TotK (because I didn't play it much yet and it's laggy on original hardware)

Exactly this! BotW is laggy aswell sometimes and FPS is horendous at times. But I will gladly sink more hours into both Zeldas on Switch 2. :)

I can actually kinda get behind the $450 pricing for the console, like yeah, there were some significant hardware improvements and there's the whole inflation thingy...

But Nintendo's really fucking greedy with the $80 games and $10 cartridge surcharge, people barely got used to $70 and Nintendo's already trying it with $90 per game.

$10 for an interactive instruction manual is downright insanity and for $450 they should have packed it in.

The entire pricing scandal thing is overblown. You will find prices at regular $60 at many retailers.

Donkey Kong is ALREADY being listed at $60. Just don't buy your games from the official Nintendo store like any rational person and you won't pay top RRP.

Shop around, pay the least. Stores will compete with each other.

Retail price in 3rd world countries without official Nintendo stores will be FAR more expensive lol
Could be double the price, even though 3rd worlders earn 5-10 times less.
It's quite literally unaffordable and it seems Nintendo is trying their hardest to kill 2nd handed market place with all these empty physical cartridges and even more digital DRM that make sharing even more pain in the ass.

Thats where my mind is at right now. I'm aiming just for the console, pro controller, and web cam. The $90 on physical just makes 0 sense and its not even physical b/c you still have to download the damn game from their server :wtf:

Why the webcam? It seems like you might be able to use your own one. If you have one, try it first. Also, I found a more appealing licensed one in the shape of a Piranha plant that is gonna be sold for less.

Bro, take the current price of full games and put it in an inflation calculator. New prices higher? Cry about it. Would you rather Nintendo release half finished games and try to sell you DLC for the full experience like the rest of the AAA industry? As long as the games will offer a FULL and complete experience, you have nothing to complain about, so stop crying over prices. If your wages don't cover it, that's your problem, not Nintendo's. Negotiate your wages, demand a raise, unionize, get a new job, take up a side gig, whatever, because none of that shit is Nintendo's responsibility. So stop your winging about being priced out, gaming was always a luxury and is no different to any other hobby that has costs.
