I just reinstalled Windows 7, brand new install. I installed the Wifi drivers, did the windows system update and installed a few things like Steam, minecraft, dropbox, etc.
volume is off on my laptop, this comes from the laptop not windows.

This has never happened before?
it wasnt doing it last night.

Is there a setting to disable it on the settings in windows, or in the F2 menu at boot or something?

Try disabling the actual PC Speakers from the sound menu. It won't disable the actual speakers to hear audio from the laptop.

Right click the sound icon in the taskbar > Click Playback Devices > Right click Speakers and do Properties > Levels tab > And if you have two volume sliders there, turn down the PC Speakers one to 0, or click mute.

Then click apply and such. My dad has a laptop and his does this, but a bit of a different noise. It's more annoying than that one though, lol.

Some laptops don't have it set this way, but it's the easiest to check first.

Thanks for this I will try and give the results!

edit: There is 1 bar that says Speakers/Headphones
Also this is weird. It was on level 14 sound or whatever, so I unplugged my computer just before I did it to see how loud it was and it didnt make the sound. I plugged it in again and the sound is now gone? Its not playing it anymore

You adjusted the slider there to a different value, or you set it to 0? If you set it to 0 and it didn't make the sound then you probably also are not receiving and other sounds from the computer.

I did not change the slider at all. It was at 14, and I tested the sound before I changed it to see the volume of it and it stopped making the sound. I did no other changes during this time
