The Playstation Move is an updated Wii, them fucking cheaters. "You know what's a great idea? The Wii, lets update it"~ Sony. And by the way, Kinect is not looking so great at the moment, but it's a lot more than an Eye Toy, the Eye Toy does what my old 1997 web cam does, makes bubbles and you can pop them. The Kinect has the ability to animate figures over yourself, and control in game scenes with the flick of your wrist. It's not that great, but it's not like the Eye Toy.

Can a 1997 webcam really do that? o:
I'd say they're pretty much the same thing only Kinect can recognize voice.

@ Goli - Yeah, pretty much the same thing except they stepped it up a notch, he has a glow, and they added an actual game play mode.

Edit: Talking about, comparing to my old web cam. I used to play Basketball on that thing. =P

He has an animated character over him. It does not use his actual self, like my old webcam.

The Playstation Move a copy of the Wii? Yeah, sure.

First of all, it uses totally different techniques. The Wii uses IR tracking, where the PS3 uses color tracking of the bulb (?).

Secondly, Sony has been experimenting with "motion controls", way before the Wii was even released.
If you don't believe me, watch this:

The video is made in 2002 - 2003.

Although I can understand that some may say that the move controller is similar to the Wii controller and the navigation controller to the nunchuck.

Correct me If I'm wrong but hasn't Nintendo and other companies tried motion controls before this? (zapper, Sega Activator)?
Edit: Ah who could forget the good ol' PowerGlove?

You nailed it, right on the money! As I said, an upgraded Wii! And dude, who the hell cares you made it first? It's about who released it first. You know I made the cell phone? But it does not matter, since someone else released it first. I started working on the cell phone when I was a sperm.

Then, why they didn't sell it as the official PS3 controller? Maybe they think it wouldn't work, they see the Wii, and now, they gonna release this and now, it cost less.

Say hello to DreamEye and Power Glove.

We're having this stupid motion control argument again?! This subject's been beaten to death so hard it's almost unbelievable. There are probably so many obscure devices that go farther and farther back that make this argument completely pointless and cyclical.

Kinect won't do shit.
PS Move on the other hand may be a different story
PS Move is practically a direct copy of the Wii. I don't know about everyone else, but I support the original (Wii). I also support others who try new things (Kinect). I don't Support the copies (PS Move).
Except what Wii does isn't original either. It's something Arcades did way, WAY before. It just a combination of already existing technologies on a console. And Kinect have the same concept of the PS Eye, which was there SINCE Ps2.

You guys need to stop being blind by your fanboyism and see there's no problem on using things that already exist on the market and make them better. It only benefits us, users. Competition on this market make things interesting for consumers, who have a lot of options to choose.

Which was there SINCE DreamEye.

That's the point, it was made before.

guys guys, take it easy.

Eyetoy is obviously a copy of something else, just like the wii is a copy of something else before that, and so on, so on... that's life.

One thing EVERYONE has to admit... Nintendo changed the way everyone plays games, with either their BUTTON controller ideias, or their waggle control.

Of course Move is a straight copy the Wii. The only reason it uses a different method of tracking is because Nintendo has lots of patents which prevents either Microsoft or Sony using the same methods, that's why it's taken Sony and Microsoft so long to produce their copies.

As for who did it first, it was this guy http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/16/joystiq-...way-tells-us-h/ I remember reading about it years ago, not long after the Wii's release.

Also remember Nintendo would have been working on the Wii before 2002.

Move will flat out fail, it's to similar to the wii which will already be in most peoples homes of the consumer types that Sony is targetting.

As for Kinect it's not strictly a copy but they are trying to copy Nintendo's success. I always get the feeling someone was watching Minority Report when they can up with the idea of Kinect.

If Kinect is laggy and inaccurate, it will also fail. I imagine it might have worked if they kept the hardware processing and 640x480 resolution.

If there was a Wii 2 with HD resolutions and came with a Nintendo version of Kinect with dedicated processing and a 640x480 resolution. I'm willing to bet people on here would have been going on about how awesome it was, and it would have been a success.

What was crucuial to the Wii's success, is that all consoles came with a WiiMote out of the box. This is why both Kinect and Move will fail, there will never be a massive number of people with the devices.

I am not disparaging the Kinect when I say, what the fuck do industry analysts know ?
People often forget that the uneducated, product-buying masses make up most of the market. Doesn't matter if it is a shit product, if they advertise well and convince those who know nothing about gaming that it is a shiny, new, popular, viable product, it will still sell well. The holiday season always causes a flurry of people buying things they know nothing about for other people.
