2 days a go me and a friend tried Kid Icarus because we never played the game yet. After some playing we really enjoyed it but some stuff is really annoying like that there are no Checkpoints and if you stop the game you have to start all over again

So I thought: " wow this game would be really fun on the DS ^^" with some Touch screen features, checkpoints, a way to return to the titlescreen xD.
So what do you think of a Kid Icarus Remake for the DS with some extra features of course and maybe some new levels ^^

Level 1-1 Review (How it could look like):

It sounds very possible. That would be sweet, because I played the game using nesDS and it was like impossible.

I gave up after like 5 minutes.

I beat this back in the day then I played it again and can't imagine how. I'd be a cool project but wouldn't it be easier to port the nes version and make it touch control

I'd like to see this happen, but please don't go and add overly hard as hell levels and or stupid shit from other games in it like skjmin did in his nsmb3 hack.

Porting requires the source, remaking does not. Unless the NES version is opensource/abandonware/etc. the chances of having the source are next to zero.

I would really like to see a remake for the DS, but I can't help you. I'm working on my own DS Homebrew project right now.
Maybe you should make this into a project page.

What about making two 'modes'?
Classic Mode which is as close to a 100% faithful recreation of the game mechanics as you can make, and then Modern which has the changes like Checkpoints?
Or maybe a series of options that could be saved to a profile with defaults for Classic and Modern? (Although I think just Classic/Modern as described above would be fine.)

Also, I F@#&!NG HATE those maps... they make the levels look so deceptively easy it's not funny.
Years ago I heard rave reviews for the game and saw the maps in an old Nintendo Power and went out and bought the game... which then proceeded to kick my ass repeatedly.

Thanks people for all the reactions ^^

I really like the Classic mode idea ^^ for people who don't want the new features or just for fun like a hard mode

Would like to see it!(hey I fellow you on twitter do I? @Angry_Alex_bird)

Yeah sounds really great! If there ever exits a homebrew, I would like to join the forces with some easy stuff.(aka beta testing, ideas etc.)

If you can do this and do it right, you will be a God in the DS community.

Just a quick suggestion: Based on the screenshots, you should make the pillars a different (faded? darker?) color than the platforms you walk on. As is, they look as though they could be barriers which may confuse some first-time players.

@injected11: Hmm you're right

@Rockstar: Nice I'll count you in ^^ I have have some tiles already but not all ^^ most of them are basic
biggrin.gif
. I will place the Tileset in the project page so they might Change sometime

Tileset

If you want to update the Tileset Do NOT make it wider

only higher and PM it to me so I can place it on the Main page
