Hardware just got my 3ds xl today!

Hi everyone! It was so exciting today opening my package to find out my 3ds xl has arrived! well i set it up and all and im more than pleased with it
I didnt expect it to be that big though lol. I aslo checked the firmware and noticed it was on 4.40-10 U. currently debating on what to do:

- update?

- stay on my firmware and purchase the gateway flash cart?

I currently dont know what else im missing on this low firmware besides access to the eshop...
any suggestions or comments welcome!

get the gateway if you want to play roms or wait and see if they can make it work on newer firmware and play games that use firmware lower then what you have on your XL.

Umm....by clicking on 'No' when it asks to update?

You can also turn off your wifi b clicking the button on the right down.

The best way to avoid updates is to enable parental control in the system settings. Turn them all on.

cool. Is there anything in general i should know about the console or avoid or anything i should do or something?

Turn Wifi (and all streetpass/spotpass stuff) off and don't turn any of it on. Also don't play new legit game carts (they can require updates).
Those are the two ways to avoid updating so far.
