GCN Japanese freeloader disc?

I'm gonna get a japanese gamecube soon, so I'm wondering if I can use a freelaoder disc to play us and pal games. (This is my first cube see) Also how does the broadband adapter work? I want to play a certain game online with it. Oh and why do some play game not display correctly? I heard they don't. Sorry for topics being all around.

yes, use the version that works with all regions (looks something like this: https://www.estarland.com/product-d...Loader--Freeloader-Converter-US-Version/14438) there may be some exceptions but most games will work fine.

Get this ... I bought that in a "Book Off" store in Yokohama on vacation in 2013. (Book Off is a used stuff shop.) I paid about $12 for the Gamecube with the original controller, power brick, and AV cables. In 2015 I was in Osaka and went to Super Potato, where I got both the matching Gameboy Player (with original disc) and the additional controller for about $40. Of course the hard part is actually being in Japan to get deals like that.

I've heard that action replay has a region free function as well, is that true? I might as well just get a jap action replay instead of a jap region freeloader disc.

Yes, Freeloader is included in Action Replay. Not sure if it's included with all versions/any manufacturing date. I had an Action Replay Max (PAL) as dad bought me a NTSC game not realizing the GC is not region free. So he bought me that AR to play it. Sadly, I've lost the disc, and it seems like so have a lot of other people, as they're rather expensive on eBay. But JPN one might be cheaper.

Playing without color likely won't look right. Most games weren't made for that.

Carby would fix the colors at 50hz (digital video doesn't technically use ntsc or pal) and costs half the price of a nintendo component cable.

If the action replay disc is region free, its region free function will work better on a japan system. Since the bios/firmware is running in japanese language mode.

Not only does it look cool (orange is best) The game I want to play isn't compatible with us or pal region consoles. Even with freeloader discs. (the text garbles up+no online)

Sorry to bump this, but aren't the Japanese and US consoles both NTSC? They both have the same BIOS, so I'm pretty sure any NTSC game can be played on either. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here. And since the BIOS is responsible for handling fonts, I get the feeling that you'll still have messed up text with a Japanese console.

I know. I was also under the misconception that region locking wasn't a thing between the two, but then I remembered that NTSC region swapping is a thing.

Yea the reason USA has NTSC is because our TV format was developed in Japan and our TVs

Right, it just pertains to the refresh rate of the TV. But my stoney brain forgot region locking/swapping existed. I'm just not used to it anymore.
