Hey just a quick question. I would like to sell my iPhone but i want to sell it jailbroken but i dont know if you can jailbreak before you have your number activated on the phone. Of course if im selling it, i dont want MY number on the phone, i want to let the buyer activate it.

So. Is it possible to wipe my data off the phone and then jailbreak it for selling?

You may have to ask your carrier about deactivating service on the phone or SIM card. Removing the SIM card should clear the phone number and whatnot from the phone (you may still be billed since the service is still active, though), but CDMA carriers will probably require a phone call or a store visit.

That being said, jailbreaking before iTunes activation depends on the device. If it has a bootrom exploit (iPhone 4 and earlier), you can jailbreak without iTunes activation. If it's an iPhone 4S, I think it needs to be activated first. (I could be wrong on that, though.)
