So I got the latest iTunes since I HAD to 'cause my girlfriend got the new iPhone4 and in order to finalize it's update you needed the latest iTunes, but now I can't just drag and drop my music like I used to.

I actually HAVE to add it to the iTunes library and then put it on my iPod, which takes forever for some reason.

Is this just some issue i'm having? Or did they actually do this.

I have an iPod Touch 4G and I can still do this. Make sure "Manually Manage Music & Videos" is checked under "Options" when you click on the device from the pane on the left.

Nah I just discovered it's because it's an iPhone. You can't drag and drop music onto an iPhone.

Ever since we got this iPhone 4, it's been nothing but hell. Thank God it's hers, I'm never getting an iPhone.

Yeah, I was up until last night when we upgraded the iPhone4, and then it got stuck in recovery mode saying it could only finish updating if we installed iTunes 10.1. . . . wtf.

Is it possible to downgrade? Because I've found, everything after iTunes 7, iTunes has been laggy as fuck and takes a long time to load.

foobar2000 has an iPod plugin which lets you transfer music to the device

in addition, CopyTrans has a manager application which makes use of a very minimal install of iTunes (for drivers and device access and all that) to let you fully manage your device

also there are SharePod and i-FunBox which need iTunes to be installed but are much faster and easier to use

iTunes is one of the worst pieces of software I have ever seen and I hate that I have to use it to manage my iPod. :c

Agreed

yet at my work there's still someone claiming it's an awesome piece of software, I don't understand how he can feel this way. Such a shitty program!

I disagree. You're probably using it on Windows. Apple's software on Windows is ugh (Safari as another example).

iTunes is A LOT better on the Mac and will always be my #1 player, since it loads pretty fast (3 seconds boot up time) and has a great UI. foobar is fugly and has no iTunes Store (but then again it's Windows, what did you expect...).

Well of course that's what I meant, iTunes is great on Mac OS X because that's the only platform Apple really cares about, their Windows team apparently has no clue what they are doing, either that or iTunes for Windows was a secondhand thought.

Also, foobar can be easily skinned and you can download music from other sources much easier than in iTunes. (and for me, loads up in literally a second.)

I'm using iTunes on Windows and it's not laggy at all, heck i haven't even got an ipod and I prefer iTunes to any other player out there.

You just need to learn to use it...
