Hi! So Nintendo update the 3DS firmware to 11.8

Now we know it does what the switch does. It checks if you have a legit purchases of a "Digital" game

So this mean no more online with CIA's and probabbly offline games (Because we don't know if our 3DS sends Nintendo some data when connected to the internet)

But with the sky3ds or sky3ds+ you only need a unique ID from a retail cartdriges, this mean it still safe? I dont know, but as far as I know, the differences between 3DS cartdriges and the switch cartidges, are the Uniques ID

Nintendo switch has a specific ID por a specific game, and 3DS only has Uniques ID

What do you think?

Only when downloading titles from Nintendo's CDN, it checks if you have valid tickets, so if you have purchased it. This happens for freeShop installations, but CIA installations with FBI are safe. Playing online with pirated titles is no problem atm.

Are you sure about this? Because if you Play online with a not legit game (CIA) Nintendo can still ban you, because you dont have a key ticket on Nintendo database of that particular game

If you are really worried banned than actually BUY the games instead of getting useless3ds / gatetonothing. Cias are as safe as those cartridges if not more safe and are not overpriced! If you really want to get it fine, but there is no reason to and there aren't many benefits (and a few drawbacks)

Tickets aren't exported at game launch time, meaning they don't check if the ticket is valid when you play the game. The only change in 11.8 is that they are exported at install time when installing through the built in network installer, which means they are verified when downloading a game.

They could change this in a future system update to allow the ticket to be exported at run time by games, but AFAIK every game and their server would need to be updated to actually utilize this. I'm sure Nintendo wouldn't mind going through the trouble for their first party games, but I find it unlikely that most 3rd party devs will bother.

The ticket only gets sent when downloading from the CDN, so online play and downloading CIAs to install with FBI is safe.

Hell no just dont download them from the freeshop and youre good to go
That's literally what the 11.8 update intends to break...

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.
