Is there any way to restore save data?

So when playing M&LBISR, my save went ALL the way back to the point just before you unlock koopa troopas. I was 100% sure that I was at like at toad town already? And I have saved a lot. I am not playing the game all the way to toad town again, there's like 50 bosses and I do not have the patience to fight them all again.

Anyone knows why did the game go back to this point, and how to recover an older save?

I'm not sure why it would revert like that, perhaps the main copy got corrupted and it reverted to a backup? (some games store multiple copies for this purpose, though very odd that that would be more than just your 2nd preview save...)

If you've got backups in Checkpoint or such you could restore them, other than that unfortunately there's not likely much you can do. If nothing else a good reminder for the future to take regular backups I suppose...

If you've got any full backups of your SD card that could probably work too, assuming you're not playing from a cart.
