Yeah... It would be cool to run something like Slax or DSL on the Wii... I don't know if there are any graphical linux out yet...

only thing Linux wise is GeeXbox, that has graphics when you play mp3s.

There's a X.org driver somewhere on TehSkeen.

Muzer is also installing some stuff on the default filesystem and calling it Miight.
It has:
1. Wiimote support as mouse (through cwiid driver)
2. On-screen keyboard (somewhere in the repos I know that

)
3. X11 server working (from the X.org driver on TehSkeen)

man and when it's finished the wii can be a really great media center!
hell drivers for a usb tv tunner compatible with Linux and record tv on to a usb drive with MythTV!

I'm also working on a Gentoo based Wii-Linux with all the special patches for video and such.

It's been a pain in the arse lately but who knows, it seems to be coming along okay for the moment. It has mplayer working great, just no frontend for it yet, it's gui is based off the svn version of Enlightenment DR17 from a few days ago, looks pretty decent, of course has the wiimote support. This will be more of a linux man's linux, it's got most of the development libs and utilities needed to build stuff for itself, no devkitpro though (but you can easily put it on a pendrive)

I'll probably release it somewhere in the next few days, I'm working on getting a webkit based browser named Midori up and getting QT to compile for an mplayer gui and some system tools. I suppose if anyone has any package demands from any of us to include, you'd probably be best of making them here, seems like reps from all the distros are here.

Actually one of the devs from the enlightenment channel was saying he wanted to do a wii linux based on arch, but he was angry that there was no wifi support in the kernel

I've never personally used arch so I figured I'd be the guy to make a gentoo distro since there are so many debian ones already and I have a twisted inner hate for debian. The gentoo distro will be big, expect to put aside 512m for your homebrew channel partition at maximum for it. I use about 85% of my sdcard already and I'm compiling a new gcc, but I have yet to really go through and rip out the silly huge docs it generates when you compile some apps (like gtk)

Also, as long as you have some usb mass storage something you'll be fine, they all seem to work for me. I have like three pendrives and an 80gb external connected to my wii right now.
