There may be a cfw if anyone wants to make one. There will not be online play on lower firmwares. Take a look at the ps3 scene. Playing online with a jailbreak will get you banned from online

Play 3or4 years with cfw ps3, no ban.
Of course I first only spoof, later updated to lastest cfw.
Yesterday play on ps3 online, still all fine.
Do not cheat online, do not edit saves or trophy and then upload them.
And all would be fine
