No, I'm not downgrading anything. Let's say I'm on 9.00 jailbroken. I then install a fake PKG base game. If this game has an update 1.05 that is fixed for 5.05 jailbreak. Can I install this fixed update PKG?

Don't think game update are fixed for specific firmware

The “fix” is for the minimum firmware you need to be on to run the base or update

Sometimes backported versions can have issues that don't exist on a non-backported version so it's best to use a non-backported version if you have the option. But there's nothing stopping you using it.

If a game is for 9.00 or lower, you don't need to use backports, but there shouldn't be any harm in using them if you don't know what to install.

Also try avoid necroing threads as this thread is over 2 years old. Generally, you should make a new thread or post to the "PS4 Exploit Guide" thread.

If you're downloading a game or update meant for above 9.0 you will need a backport. It's fine to use 5.05, as long as it's 9.0 or lower it will work. It should tell you right there on the download that this game/update is meant for this specific firmware. As mentioned above if the game/update is 9.0 or below you can install the game/update with no backport. Sometimes a game could be 9 or below and the update is above 9 you just have to read what it says. But you don't need 3 installs just 2 total the base game + update the update will usually include the backport, again it should tell you if the site is worth a damn.

No there isn't, you just go to the download site and download the game and latest update. There isn't anything more complicated than that so you don't need a program.
