Hacking Is the R4i Gold 3DS any good?

I read the thread with all the compatible 3ds flashcarts and decided to order this one since it was cheap and I read it was the first cart to be compatible with the 3DS.
I used to own an M3 Real for my nintendo ds but when I got my 3ds on launch day, and I read it wasnt compatible with it, i gave it away together with my ds to my cousin.
Anyway, point is, is it any good? All I want is to play some old DS games that I love and maybe try out the new Dragon Quest Monsters 2 (I was a fan of the first one and bought it but since I read that this one isnt as good I wanted to try it first). I bought it because it was cheap and seemed enough for what I wanted it.

Edit: I only ordered it yesterday so I still havent got it, thats why I wanted to know your opinions.

If it's the cart from http://www.r4ids.cn/ then it should be the one compatible with wood r4 (beware because there are some crap clones with 'r4i gold' in their name).

With official wood r4 support, you'll be able to play the latest games without problem. You can make your cart compatible to the 3ds by updating the boot-strap to be compatible with whatever system. You can find everything you need on the above website's download page. You'll most likely need a ds phat/lite to update the boot-strap (you won't be able to load the updater if it still can't load on a 3ds, you know) so you'll maybe want your cousin to lend your ds back to update.

If you get one with a www.r4ids.cn or a www.r4idsn.com label on it is a very good card and runs wood. Other R4i Golds can be extremely poor clones of god knows what.

Yeah, it is that one, I ordered it from one of the european shops they had on their site.
As for the ds, he lives in the neighbourhood so thats not an issue.
Btw, does the wood support the latest 3DS updated?

Wood is not affected by the 3DS, it is the cards boot loader (firmware) that needs to be 3DS friendly. If you get a card and it won't boot you can get firmware updates from the cards web site.
