Hi, longtime lurker here.
I snatched an "untested" PS3 Slim CECH-2001B that apparently didn't work. Turned out that the system was set for HDMI so the RCA video cables didn't output video. SCORE!
Anyway, it comes with OFW 4.21.

My intentions are:
1) Rip and play PS3 games from HD
2) Play PSP games from HD (I suppose you can't rip the discs on the PS3)
3) Rip an play PS1 games from HD
Already done the 12V SATA mod and I'm using a 1TB 3.5" HDD ATM.
So, to confirm, currently a NOR flash is my only option, right?
EDIT: I'm learning about ODEs. Is that a better way to play HDD backups or is CFW more reliable?
EDIT2: NVM, it seems that they require CFW too.

EDIT3: OK, I'm officially confused. I find references to ODEs being plug and play. Is that right? Or are there PS3 models in which plug and play ODEs work? If so, which ones?
EDIT4: Ok, so if I'm getting all the info right:
3K3Y-S: Solderless for 20xx and 21xx, uses external HD for PS1, PS2, PS3 ISOs, I can't find info about support for PSP ISOs
Cobra USB: requires FW 3.41, uses internal HD for PS3, external for everything else, PSP is supported
Cobra ODE: same as 3K3y, doesn't list PSP support, apparently PS1 and PS2 support isn't ready yet
E3 Pro: not much info, official site is in engrish but aparently it's comparable to Cobra ODE. PS1 and PS2 support will require a future upgrade. Cheapest of the bunch.
As far as I can see, the Cobra USB is the best one but it also requires an earlier firmware. As things stand now I guess I'll be on the lookout for the 3k3y, if it supports PSP then I guess it's a done deal.
