So I already have a day 1 PS4 on 5.05, meaning I have a exploitable console. But with 5.05 being the highest exploitable firmware for such a long time and not being able to play the latest games, I grew impatient and bought a second PS4 Pro console which is currently on the latest firmware (8.00 I think, or 8.01).
In hindsight I should have just waited since now we have newer kernel exploits and many newer games have also been backported to 5.05. But I sit here with two consoles, and now I've also purchased a PS5, which makes my 8.00 console redundant.

Is it worth holding hope in a 8.00 kernel exploit so that my PS4 Pro has a purpose? Baring in mind I already have another 5.05 console and a PS5.
Or should I not bother and just get rid of that 8.00 console seeing how I can just play all my PS4 games on the PS5?

I'm not really sure what the best course of action is. Any suggestions?

I’m sure there will be, but don’t expect anything anytime soon. I’d say in one or two years there’s a high chance something will appear

It can take years for an exploit to be public release, 6.72 would be a good example as the exploit came out two years after 5.05 exploit, so we can't really give you an estimated time for release, 5.05 came out few month after 4.55 exploit so it vary.

So considering I already have a PS4 on 5.05, is it worth holding onto a PS4 Pro on 8.00? Or am I better of selling it?

Sell it, or hold on to it for future. It’s your choice :)

7.55 is the next target, no where near 8.xx yet because devs don’t want cheating and bans online.

It is up to you selling it would make you few hundred dollars now, there is not ETA when an 8.00 + exploit would come out.

I honestly would keep playing with the Pro. It's a fantastic machine.

But I also have a PS5 as well, which is backwards compatible. So between the three consoles (PS4 on 5.05, PS4 Pro, and PS5), I only really need two.
The ideal scenario would have been if my PS4 Pro was exploitable, so then I could get rid of the OG PS4.

As KiiWii pointed out in his thread there's very few games that can't be backported to 5.05 currently. That could change with a newer exploit though nobody knows.

tbh its like kiiwii said we are hoping for 7.55 but this is looking more and more like 7.51
so you we be able to backport for your 5.05
as for your 8.00 ive seen nothing on hackerone to suggest any exploit has been found
not to say someone hasn't found one and keeping it private but tbh with sony paying out $10.000 i very much doubt it
i suspect by the time 8.x.x gets exploited you well be able to pick one up cheap

Absolutely mystifying the advice given to you. Mystifying. Ok so it's kinda sorta right just outdated. I want you to know what you can do. Recently there was a major development which makes every game potentiality playable/attainable on any firmware atm. Not helpful in terms of homebrew (though I actually could be totally wrong here) but you could totally play a game you don't technically own on your firmware today even though your ps4 cannot be exploited (i say exploited instead of jailbroken cause people here are really cray cray). I made a lengthy video exploring the options with some really helpful instructions in the description:

Basically this is the start of psnstuff on ps4 with the odd extra curve that ANY ps4 can do this. It's pretty wild actually...

As amazing as you think this is: this won’t work in a lot of cases.

The rifs need to be free or demo, or have hen and fake pkg.... it’s just a method for pkg installing, no where near PSNSTUFF.

Here’s a short summary by a user on Twitter:

HEN on 7.02:
fpkg no rif = works
demo pkg no rif = fails
demo pkg + rif = works
free pkg no rif = fails
free pkg + rif = works

OFW 7.02 no HEN:
opkg +frif = fail
orpkgdemo +rif = works
opkgfree + riff = works
fpkg no rif = fail
opkg + rif disc = fail.
