Hi guys, had my ds for about a year and it was working fine until recently...

The problem is, while playing with my DS, the left directional button suddenly went berserk. One minute it was working like I was pressing it (eventhough I wasn't), then now I find it very difficult to press. Now my thumb has to get numb first before I can get it to work.

Anyone experienced this? Anyone knows what might be the problem?

Edit: not it's not working anymore, hard as I might, I cannot make it go left...

Now I find it difficult to play button-based games

so, its physically impossible to press it? or does it feel the same, but the DS doesnt report it?

Best bet is to just try to send it back in to Nintendo... If not, crack it open, there may just be something under it, thats keeping it from working! You could, buy this:
http://powergamingparts.com/nintendo-ds-bu...ebuild-kit.html

and repair it!!

Good luck!

I can press it, but the keypress doesn't seem to register...

My other problem is that I purchased my DS in Japan, but I'm not actually from there. And I think that there is no Nintendo outlet in our country. Do you have any idea how I can have my DS sent to Nintendo?

@shaoranm

How about sending Nintendo an E-mail?

I already did it, and since I live outside US, there was no way for them to have it fixed. Unfortunately, in our region only 1 company does the fixing for Nintendo, and it is not anywhere near us. I'm also hesitant to send it outside because I wont be able to play with it.

The link is in post #3.

Just like what jdbye said, I previously checked that before and it was for NDS, not NDSL. mine's NDSL.

Um, In Gibraltar there is no Nintendo.. but the Nintendo in the UK will repair it and ship it back under warranty, I have tested this. Nintendo don't service stuff based on location, more the type of plug you use, Nintendo ES won't fix Nintendo stuff in Gibraltar because it comes with a UK style plug.

Moral of the story, Ship it insured and let Nintendo fix it... or just buy a new one, they're like less than £80 here.

Sending it to Japan to have it repaired? I'm not so sure.... I do not have much resources to go by with, much more buy another unit.

Fate, it's so cruel. :'(
