Hello, I am a new in this community. Nice to meet you everyone.

I'm pretty noob about Wii U hacks so you guys might heard this question a lot but please help me.

I have Wii U with 5.5.1 U firmware + RedNAND Mocha CFW and I like to change the system region to Japanese. First I thought I can switch through using SysConfig Tool in RedNAND but it didn't work.

I've tried to edit sys_prod.xml file but it just bricks the System.

Is there any way to install Japanese firmware on US console? (Something similar with using CTRNAND Transfer on 3DS). If I get fw.img from Japanese system, will it switch to Japanese if I install RedNAND again?

I know it is region-free since I've got Mocha CFW, I wish I can have this option.

Thanks.

I would strongly not touch anything like this. It's probably possible but until there is a proper Rednand that you can destroy and restore without bricking the Wii U, I wouldn't do anything in this sort of way.

What's most likely needed is downloading and installing all system titles for 5.5.1J, installing them* and immediately changing the region in the xml (possibly through ftpiiu everywhere)

* remember most versions of wupinstaller block system titles, and installation to SLC of the kernels may or may not be implemented... ye, systemconfigtool sounds easier for this scenario

Mocha with eeprom emulation has now existed for months

what does eeprom redirection and otp redirection do again?
correct me if im wrong but i think that otp redirection may allow using a usb on multiple consoles

eeprom should have one part of the usb drive key, yep (another part is derived from the disk/adapter combo), so yes, if you were to run your rednand+eeprom+otp on another console (which I don't remember if it's already possible) you should be able to also bring the hdd

another advantage of eeprom emulation (which however hasn't been tried for the obvious reason there's nothing above 5.5.1) is the ability to update sysnand or rednand without bricking the other

Thank you for the helpful suggestion. I'll see what I can do.

If you're using latest Mocha it already is region free. But why use mocha? Do you have HaxChi? Mocha and rednand aren't the best way to things these days. Use Mocha if you don't have HaxChi. Don't use redNAND at all.

RedNAND popped on the scene for a second and 15 billion guides were written for it. Now we have a bunch of users with mocha and rednand issues. Just stick with sigpatched sysNAND. No need for mocha or rednand
