Hacking Is it possible to remove the HBC but still play backups?

As the title states, is there a way to remove the homebrew channel and still access apps such as neogamma/usbloadergx/geexbox/mplayer ce etc?

...Why would anyone want to remove the HBC? It's probably the most useful channel ever. It can do everything and more.

And the answer is yes but horribly. You can always run homebrew through Bannerbomb and the Twilight Hack, and you can install WADs of some apps (like emulators), but it's not nearly as good as just using the HBC.

Just don't remove the HBC. It's the cornerstone of easy Wii hacking and with it your life will be a pain in the ass... Wii wise.

The answer is yes... there are forwarder and stand alone programs(Such as Neogamma R7 .wad) which would install as Wads through Wad Manager. HBC is the most convenient way to run homebrew though. You will probably end up re-installing HBC once you find out how much of a hassle running new Apps can be without it.

yes HBC can be uninstalled via the Wii Settings or Wad Manager, but keep it and use forwarder channels for ease of use, no need uninstalling HBC you never no when your gonna need it again

Deleting it through the Wii settings will still leave the haxx ticket on your system, you can uninstall it by running the hackmii installer again and having that uninstall the HBC.

As others said though, uninstalling it is totally useless and will make you unable to run any new apps except through bannerbomb which is stupid and does nothing at all for you. Just keep it and install wad's/forwarders of the applications you use the most.

You can also use WADder to make your own channels for all your homebrew apps.

yes, but it will still be stupid as hell to get rid of HBC

Removing HBC is like taking off your shoes and then running through glass

First, removing HBC is not a good idea....

But if you demand on deleting it, everything should work as far as it can be launched. (e.g.Channels, via preloader, via another loader that suxx...)

why dont you simpli put the hand above the hbc, press a&b and move it to the second page of channels, there perhaps you wont see it asnd you will have the oportunity of use it if needed

wad's for things that are pretty set on not changing anymore. Forwarder's for things like loaders and such that might be updated relatively frequently.

With a forwarder, if something is updated, you can just replace the dol file on your sd card with the updated dol. With a direct wad of the application you would have to uninstall the old wad and install a new one for every update.

for me forwarders no need updating channels all the time, just replace the .dol on the sd thats it plus it saves blocks on the wii,


ps.... a forwarder is stall a .wad but takes less room than channel.... a channel has the .dol inside it, a forwarder loads the .dol from the SD/USB
