Simple thing: I once played mario kart 7 on my GW, only offline as .3ds

Now i want to play it online, so i replaced the header with a private one and renamed it to .3dz

Result: The save file is corrupt - i guess because of the header-change. Is there a way to fix this?

P.S.: Is it still impossible to use a save file from a retail cart as GW-save file?

Yes. You need to export your save from the .3ds, then import it back to the .3dz ROMs. Follow this guide.

Now it's possible with CFW, or homebrew.
