I know all those other CFWs for the Switch like Atmosphere are great but the question is: Is it even possible to run Dreamcast ROMS using Retroarch on SXOS? When I try it on Retroarch I always get an ERROR that kicks me out of any Dreamcast Rom the moment I start it (I still get to see the SEGA Logo and then it gives me the ERROR) so I feel like it isn't even possible on SXOS but I can't find anything about it online. Thanks. Has anyone ever managed to get Shenmue II to work using SXOS?
I start any other game holding down R which will bring up the homebrew menu and that way I start Retroarch.

Check out this thread, looks like the only option for SX users. You could also always just switch (pun intended) over to Atmosphere to run the emulators? I do it all the time for Animal crossing for example, since the item spawn tool only work in Atmosphere.

It's very easy to setup Atmosphere and SX on the same SD card and just go back and forth as needed.

oh wow is it really easy? I am super afraid of f'king things up. I mean SX OS is idiot proof, guess that's why I am running it. I saw there was some homebrew to toggle between different CFWs on the switch but it seemed to require certain things or did not support the latest versions of CFWs and some other draw backs. so if it is a very easy set up how do I do this? I would also say a BIG THANKS for your reply. I have been a user on here for years but I have only been lurking most of the time. I sometimes try my luck with reddit but I always end up with 0 replies there which is just frustrating. So I am super happy that I post something here and I also get a reply. THANKS MAN!

I thought latest SXOS finally supported retroarch flycast? It looks like China finally brought down the hammer though, meaning you should probably migrate to Atmosphere anyway for continued updates.

Oh I am NOT on the latest version of SXOS yet. I thought there were some bugs in it and they never released a follow up so I stayed away from it but is it actually save to install the latest version? if I remember correctly 11.0.0 is the last switch firmware it supports. on the other hand even if I am still on an old firmware I can simply swap out the SXOS firmware version file and stay on my lower firmware, right? but yeh i would also love to just update my switch firmware but I am not sure how well the latest SX OS build works??

Yes you can use the latest boot.dat on whatever firmware you're on.

I don't think it's been buggy at all. Though if you don't want to use it anymore you can always drop back to a lower SXOS version.

I though that as well... maybe the OP is doing something wrong.

I decided to try Flycast on retroarch, I am on the latest SXOS, with firmware 11.0 and I can confirm it's running dreamcast flawlessly over here. If you dont want to update your firmware, you can definitely update to the latest SX
