Hello all,

I have a 3DS (original) and a New 3DS (latest). Is it better to install CFW on one or the other?
Are the consoles effectively the same, with respect to playing ROMS and homebrew?
Can I do more on one or the other?

Thank you kindly for your help!!

Well, there's a handful of games that are New3DS-exclusive, and you can get the other games to run better on a new 3DS. But hey. If you're going to install CFW, you might as well do it on both.
Thank you kindly.

I thought that. But both consoles are Zelda versions, and one of them has all the legit Zelda games on it and the Zelda wallpaper, and I thought I'd like to keep one legit.

Meh, you could always revert one to stock if you feel like it. But yeah, the new 3DS is somewhat better, so if you're choosing between the two of them, that's the one, I guess.

the biggest things are that the new 3ds has better 3d and is much more stable than o3ds, the new 3ds was an actual hardware upgrade, like the dsi but better executed (a 3ds that's o3ds compatible, but also can run its own line of software) , o3ds had only a dual core arm11 cpu @268Mhz and arm9 cpu, 128MB of ram, 6MB of Vram and DMP pica [email protected] for graphics, the new 3ds has a quad core arm11 cpu @804Mhz, the same arm9 cpu, 256MB of ram (64MB reserved for system os), 10MB of Vram, and 204 MHz DMP pica200 for graphics, plus l2 cache

pretty much anything made for the o3ds will run somewhat better(faster) on the new 3ds if it can take advantage of it , and the new3ds technically can outperform the o3ds, this is why minecraft for example only supports n3ds, essentially it's a quad core 3ds running at almost 1Ghz, with more ram and added l2 cache and higher speed graphics
