Directions instructing you on the most basic of controls?

Left = Left
Right = Right
B = Jump

I was looking through some pictures of the new Tetris with directions on the controls as if no one has ever played a Tetris game before. Also Dementium 2 pauses the game, instructing you how to move. FF13 brings up a tutorial on Attack Magic and Items. I haven't played Mario Galaxy 2 but I'm sure somewhere in the game it tries to teach you that A is Jump. Anyone annoyed?

Yes, they treat you like a baby.

All games should have a "skip tutorial" button or check the birth date in the firmware and "automagically" skip it.

I wish to God I could remember what game it was I was playing. Not three days ago I was starting up a new game and it goes through all the basic controls like I'm a retard. It pisses me off. At least let me skip it. This is what happens when you have to cater to newbs who can't read the manual because their parents dump them in front of an Xbox instead if teaching them anything. The sort of people which necessitate the little labels on hairdriers that say 'do not use in the shower'.

Tutorials that you don't have to view: Not really.

Tutorials that you can't skip: YES
Well I dont really have fast internet so when I watch video tutorials that are long then YES.
If it's an html tutorial then no problem

What about the tutorials that are included in gameplay?

I don't mind camo-tutorials.
AKA the ones that make you do something simple at the start of the game that involves all of the basic controls, and they just have a little caption saying stuff like "Press in the thumbstick to crouch" and by then you're already miles past that obstacle.

Unskippable, hold your hand, move-at-OUR-pace tutorials annoy the hell out of me.

For sequel games, the game should check for the presence of the previous game's save and not show the tutorial if it finds it.

Getting trophies/achievements for finishing tutorials pisses me off. Where's the achievement? At least the Simpsons game took the piss and gave you an achievement for pressing start on the title screen. That was at least mildly amusing. But in my opinion achievement points should be handed out for genuine achievements. IE: Feats of incredible skill. Not learning the basic controls.

It should be simple give me a "Would like to view the tutorials?" "Yes" or "No" As simple as that, I hate the ones that MAKE you play through them
