Apple iPod 2G Apps no longer Supported

iTunes told me to update a few apps, but now they're not supported on my device. I can't upgrade to a higher iOS being that it's a 2g. I've looked into Whited00r as an iOS 5 clone but I'd rather not lose the App Store. Is there anything I can do to run these apps?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I'm using an iPod Touch 2G on firmware 4.2.1.
 
Well i mean i am not surprised that the apps arent supported anymore then.
 
In order to install Facebook on iOS 4.2.1, I think you need version 4 of the Facebook IPA. In order to install old versions of apps, you might need to jailbreak and install appsync if you haven't already done so. Also, I don't think whited00r will help you since you will still technically be using 4.2.1.

Edit: I forgot that you already had the apps and couldn't update them. If you already have Facebook and it won't let you update, I don't think there's anything you can do about it.

In this case, the newer apps will not work on iOS 4.2.1, so I recommend you downgrade to older versions of the apps or buy a new device.
 
Is it possible to downgrade to older versions of the apps? I don't think Apple supports that either.
 
I found out that when updating apps, iTunes dumps the old versions into recycling bin/trash. From there I found my old versions and got them working as they were before. I just can't download new apps.
 
Assuming your iPod Touch is an "MC" model, you can't run Whited00r. You can, however, run "Redd00r"… Which is a simple Cydia package…

What? Lose the App Store? Whited00r/Redd00r doesn't remove the App Store…

Sure, the latest versions hide it (it can be accessed, along with Cydia from the "Marketplace" app)… But they don't delete it…



Oh, and there is no way to run iOS 5 apps on iOS 4.


(note that the whited00r forums were hosted with that provider that was raided by swedish police yesterday, and as a result, are offline)
 
If you haven't sync'd with iTunes since you updated your apps on your iPod, the older versions should still be in your iTunes library, and all you should have to do is simply delete the apps from your iPod and then sync the older version from iTunes.

If you don't have the apps backed up, you'll have to resort to less-than-legal methods to attain older versions.
 
Yeah… Unfortunately, unless you have an older copy of the app somewhere, there's no legal way of downgrading to an older version. If the compatible version is still on your iPod, you might be able to get it back onto your computer by deleting the new version from iTunes, and syncing your iPod.

Tedious as it may be, be sure to check the changelog for each app update; if it says that the update adds iOS 6 or iPhone 5 support, there's a 99% chance it won't work with your iPod.
 
With certain software, you can "get" specific versions of apps.
