'Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2' launches today

Konami has today launched Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2. Picking up from Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1, this new collection reintroduces Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, as well as series spin-off Metal Gear: Ghost Babel as bonus content. A new trailer was aired to accompany the launch:

First released in 2008 for the PlayStation®3, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is now available for the first time on modern platforms with enhanced visuals. Returning stealth action enthusiasts and newcomers take on the role of Solid Snake as he embarks on his final mission confronting old allies and lifelong enemies, experience the finale in the METAL GEAR saga.

Fans can also enjoy Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and witness the rise of legendary soldier Big Boss as he builds a private army during the Cold War. Combining signature tactical espionage action with base-building gameplay, the acclaimed title lays the foundation for the events that shape the future of the METAL GEAR saga. *Users can also play online with up to six players. Rounding off the MASTER COLLECTION is series spin-off Metal Gear: Ghost Babel as bonus content.

Additionally, the collection includes a Screenplay Book showcasing in-game text from the two main titles, a Master Book detailing the story and characters, a Digital Soundtrack, and a Database covering the vast lore from Metal Gear to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Fans can also purchase Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (HD Collection version) as stand-alone digital titles separate from the collection.

Funny how they choose to include the gameboy game over the psp games. Portable Ops could have provided some expanded multiplayer that is different than peace walker. But also MGS4 multiplayer was cut just like MGS3 multiplayer. (Let them try burying metal gear acid, internet won't forget.)

Peace walker is tolerable to play, portable Ops never felt right.

I never got to try it while I still had a usable PSP... But if a noncanon one was being added, I would've voted for Metal Gear Acid 1&2, even if I typically hate card based mechanics on principle.

I'm going throug Master Collection N°1 these days as this is my first time going through the Metal Gear franchise, I'm at MGS3 at the moment, I'll be very happy to buy the Master Collection N°2 when I'm done with N°1, I hope the ports are well made and not buggy and that hopefully MGS4 will run on the SteamDeck...

Peace Walker already had a port to other platforms for the older HD collection so was likely simple to get here. Other PSP games are still PSP only.

Yeah, as "Tolerable" to play as metal gear solid 3 ON 3DS. Be happy they adapted it to a modern controller cause that game was too ambitious for the system it was on. Metal gear acid least made sense because the psp lacking controller scheme the playstation consoles had made them think about a different way to play it on the portable. Portable ops would just be a token multiplayer experience if they repurposed it for consoles. Peace walker is only co-op if I recall. It won't be like the ps2 when it had metal gear solid 3 online or ps4 when it had... metal gear solid 4 online...

I'm aware of the Metal Gear Solid HD collection for playstation 3 in 2011.

To be fair I doubt Konami really did much different besides adding 4k texture packs to look good on today's market. I don't think it was recoded from the ground up. Which they should've ported it a decade ago.

How MGS4 was going to run was a big question mark, considering all the Cell talk. I appreciate the heads up.

Also, I can confirm that the game is $49.99 USD.

I appreciate that it's a great way to legally purchase Ghost Babel. Humorously enough, the GBC version goes for about $120-$150 USD minimum, the amounts requested by @MeowthBlep and @hippy dave.

You can find a better deal at green man gaming which has it on sale for $38 it's an official partner with Konami so the steam. keys legit.

Thanks for the info. I haven't thought about Green Man Gaming is ages. There was a short time, probably back in the early 2010's (when they were new) that I'd always check for deals. It seemed like they always offered the new stuff at a significant (enough) discount compared to other storefronts.

are you joking? the PS3's processor was ridiculous and functioned very differently from other modern processors. Konami had to do a LOT of work for this port

To get the game working on the ps3 system it's self yes, but it was mostly developed on a pc as most games are developed on pc.
