Hello all! I feel really guilty about my first post here being a "omghalpmeplz" post, but after Googling my derriere off, I'd figured I'd come to the experts, AKA you of the GBAtemp community.

Here's the run down of my problem. I'm running AKAIO 1.6 on a ak2i flashcard with a 8gb Kingston HC microSD all slotted into a DS lite. For some odd reason, the latest version of Moonshell2 seems to be somewhat broken. While standard media playing and text viewing works just dandy, I have no idea how to get the IPK/Image Viewer v1.2 to work, and the same goes for the TextEdit homebrew.

When I boot Image Viewer from within MS2 it hangs right after detect fat32. I know that at one point it time I managed to get it work, but that was three or four reformats ago. The one time it did work, I was so impressed with the capabilities of the program that my mouth watered, and having it be so wonky isn't fun. I've tried booting from within AKAIO, but then I get an ARM9 error code.

I'll say this about TextEdit, even though I've heard all these great claims about it (Handwriting Recognition!), I've never actually seen screenshots of it in action. It goes awry right after reading the logbuf.txt file nested in moonshl2/extlink/tex-edit, sometimes getting far enough to display the splash screen with the kitten on it, and sometimes not.

Does anyone out there have any advice for me? I'd love to get my Moonshell2 suite in tip top condition for viewing and editing on fly.

I've found that I could never get the Image viewer nds to work every so often (I use an R4 and an AK2i), but in any case, I now just rely on the extlink that is included with MS2 (since I use MS2 a majority of the time anyways). For the text edit...it works fine for me, so maybe try reformat and reinstalling MS2.

I would, but that process is incredibly slow and I've already done it so many times that I can say with a degree of some confidence that my problem has to be something else in addition to that.

At first I just thought that IPK would bug up after I changed something on the card, be it adding files, altering files, or deleting them, but then after a reformat and reinstall still it didn't work. Also, is it a better program than that? It's pretty sophisticated, the idea of it not liking that sort of thing seem unlikely.

Yes, I do know about that program. However, I'm a stickler for image quality and size, and when I used it I found that it sized things down.

But probably, I should just get over my anal compulsive tendencies, in fact I think I'll try that right now. Maybe if I'm lucky the next version of moonshell2 will work without any hitches.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:

still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
