IKR, that's the first thing I thought. Had to change my wallpaper to something darker to compensate.
In such a case, Apple and Yahoo can just come up with an agreement to enhance the stock weather app to look more like the app in the App Store. Hence, I would say that such a look is expected for iOS 7.
Although my liking for Apple has dropped a LOT over the iOS 6 fiasco and the goodness of Android, I must say I'm very happy that Apple actually listened to requests. A while back I remember a person emailing Craig about how horrible OS X can get when it comes to multiple screens, and this issue gets fully addressed in Mavericks (considering Apple's previous track record and how busy the team got to prepare iOS 7, they could have easily ignored this request). Somehow, I have the feeling that this has got to do with the departure of Forstall.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better. -

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
