And it looks awful. no support for iPod touch 4g either which is a huge disappointment. bye apple, i'll be happy with Google now :)

I think it looks pretty good, honestly. A big improvement over the horrible Windows Vista era "chrome" icons.

Change isn't always bad, man.

And if you don't like the fact that your old device isn't getting an OS update, then why are you so pumped to switch to Google and Android? Android devices are notorious for never receiving updates, even for newer device.

P.S. - What gen iPods are we on now? Like 6?

Honestly, it seems okay. (let's not add in any copying claims) the look of iOS and some of the features are long overdue and boring. iOS 7 corrects that. Better multitasking, new OS UI, AirDrop, control center (finally Apple) etc. It has successfully managed to catch up from all that delay. It's also about time iOS needed such an upgrade.

What I am most concerned is that users of iOS 6 might not be used to this new style.

it varies company to company but for the most part every popular device has custom rom support
and 5th gen just came out

My initial thought: "Alright, now iOS users have android as well".

I didn't get my iPod Touch that long ago. Sure... it is several years, but in my eyes that isn't a very long time. I guess it was 5 years or so ago. A 2nd generation one... and it's up in 5th now? That's insane.

That lock screen looks exactly like stock AOSP or Cyanogenmod, even the damn wallpaper matches.

Yep. Looks like Apple is bringing some long overdue features to the iPhone by copying Andriod.

I have an Galaxy S4 and a iPhone 4G and I can honestly say that Android is now a better user experience even for the non-technically minded.

I'm done with apple. they are just NOW releasing features which were introduced in android long ago by stock apps and the freedom of the google play store. We shouldve had these features in 3.1.3, maybe earlier
the new icons look very poorly done imo. (look at the game center app. how does that signify gaming at all? its just 4 or 5 randomly shaped circles overlapping)

This is starting to look too simple almost like windows phone, with the ios menu feel.

iOS 7 is becoming less resource heavy and minimalistic, why are devices not being supported that could support ios 6 fine?

And then the copying. I've been using half the new features, if not more since ive been jailbroken. alot of them recently came out, auxo, with card previews, oh look Apple has card previews
And then this

Apple can't even make their own unique icons.

Then this ugly white theme, at least give us an option for black.

Apple is a joke, they copy everyone elses ideas and put in in their devices and take credit for it

To be fair, iOS 7 has been in development for a lot longer than a month, so it's actually probably a coincidence that there are similarities to other recently released software. Across the board, design trends are moving a certain direction ("flat"), so it's natural that there will be overlap in similar sorts of apps.

Although the "cards" multi-tasking isn't copied from some recent jailbreak tweak, that is exactly like the multi-tasking in WebOS, launched in 2009. There have been various jailbreak tweaks emulating it over the years (switcherpro), and other platforms (BB10) also have similar task switching. Android's isn't completely different either.

Feature wise, this update is finally bringing a lot of features that should have been in iOS a long time ago. Aesthetically, I'm not overly sure of all aspects (some look really nice, others not so much). Anyway, still none of it would convince me to switch to iOS over Android.

I respect your general opinion, but just one question: isn't yahoo the one powering iOS weather all along?

If so, such a "copy" is simply expected.

Generally, I'm quite glad that Apple is finally turning in the right direction ever since post-Jobs. Whether the features were a ripoff or not, it successfully managed to correct many of Forstall's junk which was all over the atrocious iOS 6. It also responded to many of requests, like the control center for instance. It's very obvious that some features were inspired/copied/ripped from existing systems, but I am glad that Apple is finally doing something "right" after so long.

And once again, the catch up fest begins.

Look like a massive copy pasta fest with Apples own useless stream-lined features (Airplay, iCould etc) thrown in. I mean, seriously? App previews and a quick access bar? Hell, even BEFORE ICS we had this shit. The minimalist theme seems to be taking a page out the WP8's book, except with out the accessibility it offers since they are still using icons rather then tiles.

Oh well, someones going to love this heap. Just wont be me.

Just so I don't sound like a douche, I DO like Air Drop. Looks like it would be interesting, oh and I've always wanted Siri on Android.

Nice to see Apple actually listening to requests; I'm sure something like Control Center was requested by so many people that it would have been stupid for Apple to not include it.

Trying to keep myself unbiased here, I agree with Chris; Apple needed this to free itself from the slow-as-molasses change in iOS under Forstall. Even if they had to copy things from Android.

Well theres the default iOS weather app which is run by Apple but uses Yahoo weather results. Yahoo made their own seperate app and thats the one in the screenshot

FYI for anyone that actually has an iPhone and is looking towards using the beta release, it seems the same shift+click & Restore-->Update method that worked with the iOS 6 Beta functions fine with iOS 7 Beta.
I'm running a Verizon iPhone 5 btw and the OS:
