The guide is excellent and I'm a happy man...

one final question:

On my brand new 4.2E unit there's an Internet Channel pre-loaded (or a shortcut to download the channel).

Is it safe to download this 'factory installed' channel or will this trigger an update to 4.3? Menu says channel can be downloaded for 0 points....etc

OR, is it better to remove this "shortcut" and install an offline internet channel wad (PAL version in my case)?

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

If it's already on your main menu, I think that it is already downloaded...

The only thing that will update you is going into the Wii Shop channel.

I've heard that the SHopping Channel can trigger an update....

What worries me is the need to download the channel for 0 points....(which effectively is going through the Shopping Channel??).

Maybe I'm paranoid but do not want to brick my wii....already have one of those...

I have also a bricked wii, I can understand you. If it ask for an update, turn your wii off. If you need to update the shopping channel, I can write how. But if it don't ask for an update, you can install the 0 points channels, it will NOT brick your wii.

Just use NUS Downloader and download the Shop Channel v19 (PAL version) and install it 2 cIOS249 then u'll b able 2 use the Shop Channel without having 2 worry about an update!! lol

I deleted the original Internet Channel

Downloaded the Channel again using NUS (PAL region).

Installed with Wad Manager 1.7

Worked a treat....
