Hello.:)

I am a little clueless in this case:

I have tried to install Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on an Sandisk 120 GB SSD and when it comes to the HDD Selection screen the
Installer says "Windows cannot installed on this disk".

I want to prefer the 64-bit version because the PC is intended for controlling a CNC device and for Video/Sound Capture and Editing.Thats why i want to use 8 GB of RAM.

It is an Asus Maximus II Formula Mainboard Bios Version 2302 (normal BIOS NOT UEFI) with an SINGLE SSD on SATA 3 (I have tried also the other Ports). And I have no other HDDs attached.
I have tried the SSD as empty/unpartitioned/one partion, still no success.

The Windows 7 Pro 32 Bit Installation works without any Issue on this SSD.

Do I have overlook something important ?

Thank you for any Clues/Advises and/or Solutions from you.:)

What is the second half of the error message? the first half just said about Windows cannot installed on this disk, the second half should be on MBR/GPT.
No thats EXACTLY the point. No GPT/MBR error message.:wacko:

I can select HDD/Partition 0 with ~112 GB
and a message appears at the BOTTOM of the HDD selection screen (in German):

Windows kann nicht auf Laufwerk 0 Partition 1 installiert werden.

And with Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate 32 BIT the Installation works with this HDD.
At the Moment I am not by this PC but I can Upload pictures a little later.

you missunderstood me, I was not talking about installing from USB but to USB ;)

---ger---

Thank you for your suggestions,I found a way:

First: the Windows 7 Pro Install ISO on USB that I made from the original DVD,has some issue....don´t know....I only have an Pro 64bit OA License....

I made an Windows 7 32bit install,use then the original 64bit Install DVD,formatted the 2 Partions created by Windows 7 Pro 32bit
and then the 64bit Installation worked finally.:)

Maybe this helps another users.
Thanks to all for your help.:yay:

Windows 7 loses security support in approximately six months. It is recommended that you use Windows 10 instead.

No Internet/Network.:D

If the computer is never going to be connected to the internet, then security isn't too much of a concern. That being said, if the computer has modern specifications, there isn't much of a reason to use Windows 7 over Windows 10.

Yes,I agree 100%.

The PC has a PINNACLE Video Device that no longer works with Windows 10,it will be replaced in the future. Also the Pinnacle Studio Program has issues under Windows 10,maybe we advance to Wondershare Filmora in the future.
The CNC device has Windows 10 also in his System Software requirements.

But for now Windows 7 Pro 64bit is the choice.

By the Way - the Anytime Upgrade to Windows 10 is always available, does that still work today ?
And the Windows 7 Key can still be used for Windows 10 Installation ?

Thank you.:)

Yes, it still works. If you know what you're doing, you can also do a clean install and activate later.
