Hey everyone.
I've been looking at tons of sights for a USB HDD for my Wii game storage and I finally found a one that is reasonable.
It is a Western Digital USB 2.0 250GB Hard Drive.
The size of it seems small.
It's powered by USB!
This means, no extra cable to plug in. This help to avoid cables getting tangled or accidental tripping over them, causing possible damage to the drive.

Here is the link: 250GB USB 2.0 My Passport Essential Portable Hard Drive

The instant savings makes this $59.99
It has a 4.6/5 customer rating. That's a 92% customer satisfaction!
It also comes with a 3 year limited warranty!

Other sites sell this same product for more than $70, excluding shipping.

Free shipping is offered with the product.
3-5 Day shipping is $7.99+tax extra.

250GB is plenty.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the largest Wii game is 6.93 GB.
Every other Wii game is about 4GB.
You can hold about 60 Wii games, assuming they are all this size, which most of them aren't.
Think about it, do you even have that many games that you want to put on?

I highly recommend this.
If not, Dell sells larger sizes.

If you purchase an external hard drive somewhere else that is cheaper, but isn't this one, there's a chance it will not work with your Wii.
If you're willing to risk it, go ahead.

Hope I helped some people who are looking for storage.

I defitenly agree that WD is the way to go as well as those My passports, and the best thing THEY COME IN WHITE!

Damn, I would buy a white WD if my wii was worth displaying. I installed an iChrome case on it during the summer and the case was to small and it ended up breaking in a bunch of different places and one side didn't even fit at all. So I have a shitty scratched up half chrome half white wii with the top flippy things broken off and a shorted out LED disk slot light that is ALWAYS ON

I bought a SATA to USB2.0 Enclosure for $10AUD and 750GB SATA Hard Drive for $120AUD.

Which ends up $130AUD or $89.6416USD which is pretty good. Even cheaper if you already have a spare SATA Hard Drive lying around.

are these compatible with the usb loader?

I've been meaning to get one of those, in white as a matter of fact. But last I heard they break quite easily.

Haven't experienced this myself though, just heard it from other people. A sudden d/c can cause major issues with it for example.

Again, never experienced this myself, only heard it. Has

Has anyone else had any problems with this or were the cases I heard of just coincidence?

There's no telling, I just chose those as random examples. Chances are, waninkoko is going to add addition USB support anyways. I've got a 1tb seagate that i'm dying to use, but I can as of this moment because of the USB support.

Don't be a smartass.

Sorry.
I didn't mean to be smart.
I only chose the Western Digital brand because it has been proven to work on the Wii.
Also, 33% of users gave one of those drives 1 star.
Another 22% gave it 2 stars.

I chose that one because people have been saying how they use WD drives and this is one I think is affordable.
Also, it includes a 3 year limited warranty, in case the hard drive goes bad.
If kids are using this or if you're moving it around a lot, the chances of dropping and breaking it are high.
If you're careful, you won't need the warranty, but it's good to have it ensured =)

I didn't mean to be smart.
I got a bit too cocky there. =/

It's fine, haha. I didn't even bother to look, I just chose a few random drives.

I'm a console modder, so the size does matter to me. Today I opened my wii to begin a new mod, sticking an internal hard drive in..But it doesnt work because Waninkoko's USB-Loader won't run if your DVD drive is disconnected

So i'm just waiting for additional support I guess.

Hm...
That stinks =/
Hehe, maybe you can tell him about your problem and he can make a special loader for you =)
Personally, I don't think he'd come across the need to add support for that reason.
It seems a bit specific. It's mostly meant for ripping and playing, so I can't see why he'd make DVD Drive disconnection support without an incentive.
An internal hard drive sounds awesome.
That'd kick ass more than starlight xD.

I used a 600 western digital sata drive with an sata usb external enclosure. i formatted 1 partion of 300 for wbfs and this works beautifully. THe reason i didnt do it all is because the other half contains music and movies.

used this coupon and selected 2nd day shipping which was free!! came out to a little over 61! thanks ... coupon code for 5% off is ZBC8LPSBMMRB28
