PS1/2 In reguards to PSX

PS1 is not as good as you remember it... sometimes thing are better left as memories .

Anyways, freemcboot and swap magic are both softmod for ps2.
seem that dealextreme and price-angels removed his modchips from stock. Lightake website is down today but i found another site i never heard of before. wait for lightake...

PS1 is as good as I remember it which is why I want to mod mine. Carrying cds is no problem for me and neither is a PS1. Its one of the lightest systems I've came across.

Got a Soldering gun, ISO for the first Silent hill, blanks, and the money for the chip ordering tomorrow plan on installing the night it gets here.

Any tips, burning recommendations?

If I got this process right I Install the chip using the proper guide for my model, Put the silent hill in the data burning portion of windows media player burn it and try it out?

what chip are you ordering?

I use this one, and took about 30 minutes for actual soldering (but it was also my first modchip install ever) and so far its worked with everything ive thrown at it.

just use imgburn to burn your games and youll do fine.

The MM3 and the Stealth Chip you bought are the same. They use the same HEX code.
Wish I would have seen this before, I have several chips available and also offer install service.

When you are ready to solder to Points 3 and 6. Take your time.

If you need any help let me know

Awesome its in Illinois only now I gotta buy a soldering gun cause my guitarist took his back from our practice space. Any you would recommend? How much do they run?

Aren't soldering gun huge? Buy a 15 watt soldering iron at a local radio shack for about $6. Use to used these for many PS2 installs.

Get some desoldering wick and some 30awg kynar wire, the wire just in case that it's not prewired.
I have seen a lot of shop show the chip prewired but they are not.

It came. Its prewired. Also came with its own solder and this copper looking stuff.

So should I use IMGburn or Alcohol to burn the games? I've heard one is better from the other plenty of times.

I'm going to at least take apart the PSX today. Kinda worried about soldering I have no idea how to do it and have never soldered a thing in my life.

A couple of questions on the diagram I can't find where the black wire goes? Is this white number 3? and the orange is yellow?

and the alts? Should I trust them or stick to the ones I'm supposed to use?

Well I attempted it. One of the wires came lose as I was applying the shield. So I re-soldered it. Put it all back together and turned it on. Screen flashed white and black 5-7 times. then finally the sony screen came up and then it went right the memory manager/cd player with legend of dragoon (actual game) in it.

Anyone wanna help trouble shoot?

Another thing I noticed is the motor refused to kickstart and even spinning it myself then turning the system on did nothing.

Check point 3 and 6 for solder bridges
point 3 should look like the wire connected to the resistor on the far right

Also Red wire is 1 and black wire is 8

I really need more knowledge in this

Whats a solder bridge? I guess the best way to do this is try to describe where I got everything connected?

1/red is hooked on the circle next to the FB115
2/doesn't exsist
3/white the middle bracket looking thing next to the IC304 looks to be the left hand side of the bracket
4/green on the metallic circle above the row of 3 bracket looking things on the top left
5/purple 5 circles near the c705 its soldered in the top left
6/orange/yellow I think I screwed up and did Alt 6
7/blue, metal circle close to 14
and 8/black, metal circle next to C706

---------

After I fixed the red wire which had came undone and moved the orange to "I THINK" the right location which is mentioned above. After doing this I plugged it in and gave her a go. No disc (actual games) worked. I don't have any blanks to make back ups atm. Is this normal? Will it never run actual games if I have a chip installed properly? I also haven't tried a cd. I may before bed. BUT the motor is working and the laser is trying to read.

The cable in the right is how the wire should look.
