so here’s my issue basically I tried modding my 2DS a long time ago like 2015-16ish and I basically failed, my screen was zoomed in for some reason so I decided to reset the system but that soft locked me into the 3DS depth slider which the 2DS doesn’t even have so I looked up online and people say to go to recovery mode and when I do there’s an immediate error when updating
Can someone help???

Let's get this cleared up just for future reference because there's too many threads about these things... First off, the reason your screen looked zoomed in was because you used the ancient method that downgrades to FW 9.2 (or earlier with some guides taking you back as far as FW 1.2) in order to enable browser exploits, but when you do that downgrade everything displayed in the Home Menu gets messed up temporarily (fixes later on when you update after you install the exploit). Second, getting stuck in that screen is very common and there's AT LEAST a dozen of threads on here if you need help fixing it. Third, all you need is to update, recovery mode or not as long as you can go into System Settings and update from there or you load up the eshop and you get the update things should work fine.

Otherwise if you do have an exploit and a NAND backup just restore that. Another option if you do have an exploit and want to just get past the slider calibration is this: https://gbatemp.net/threads/2dsaver-beta-fix-your-2ds-format-brick-testers-needed.457828/
