The Menu Point of Hourglass you have to enter is named Sysnand Backup/Restore

If you open up this menu point by pressing A you see all points that are possible. Use the one the guide tells you next

Now, in the guide it says that if I get that error to simply continue to the next step. However the next step is to restore the NANDmin.bin by opening Hourglass9 in arm9.

As long you didn't overwrite your 9.2 backup anything will be fine.

You backup the current firmware NAND

When you get on 2.1 you RESTORE that NANDmin.bin

You need to restore your backup, you've made with Decrypt9 on 9.2

That's one of the reasons for this. I want to get the translated version of Fire Emblem If. I wasn't super-happy with the censorship in the Fates version.

Read. At the end of the 9.2.0 ctrtransfer page, it says "Update your CFW SysNAND to the latest version using system settings". You should have installed A9LH on 2.1.0. Now go to the "Installing arm9loaderhax" page (link at the bottom of the 9.2.0 ctrtransfer page) to install FBI and restore your tickets (Sections V-VII).

I used to have one but lost it. I've been doing this by using my SHIELD tablet which works fine for file transfer. Formatting is a different story.

Okay, so I'm guessing I'll have to backup all of my files and format it through whatever software I have to use. That said, I can just backup, format, and put all of my stuff back, correct? Or do I have to do all of this again?

Honestly I wouldn't even care if I had to start over. I kinda have an idea of what I'm doing at this point. I'm surprised with how hard it is to homebrew my 3DS. I don't think I've ever worked this hard to hack something. I've homebrewed my Wii and rooted some particularly resilient Android phones but I never had to do something this complicated.
