TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences -- the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer -- TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.
There are thousands of TED talks available for anyone to watch at any hour of the day, online. They're all devoted to sharing ideas and concepts outside the norm, or on the cutting edge of technology,
and yet there are still so few people who have heard of them.
So in this thread I want to present TED talks to my favorite people: 'tempers.
I want to share the important messages that are going unheard.
And I want you to share TED talks that speak to you as well.
For a full listing of all available TED talks, go to http://www.ted.com/
Many of them have been posted to youtube, which makes them more easy to embed here.
But whether you share a link to TED.com, or to youtube; Just share what you feel is important.
Feel free to converse, ask questions, and discuss.
Many of you know that I'm a guy with a dirty job (as a shepherd)
so who better to begin with than Mike Rowe?
*WARNING* There are some aspects of this video which are graphic in detail, but they're realities of the world we live in.

At no point did I ever sign up to bite testicles off of lambs, and I'm pretty certain I'll never be asked to do such a thing
