this is just an idea i had when thinking about vr and how you can stream games like overwatch to your switch, in theory you could play some high end vr games (if you have a powerful enough computer) i thought about this for a bit and the joycons are actually pretty similar to some vr controllers, theyre independent, they have ir capability and some other stuff, the only thing you wouldnt have is body detection, is this possible or no, i really wanna play some minecraft vr.

yes i know the resolution would be trash but i dont really care i think botw vr is great

It would be convoluted to do though. Someone would need to:

1. Modify the device ID to be a Samsung device like Note 8
2. Install gear VR service
3. Trick the application that a VR device is inserted
4. Play Minecraft VR Android version via controller

Another one would probably be:
1. Port ALVR to support Switch
2. Run ALVR on PC and Switch
3. Make Minecraft VR use the ALVR as the headset
4. Need to pair the controllers to the PC

It's probably just easier to just get a Samsung phone and a Gear VR and do the first or the second one.

It's going to look like shit regardless due to the switch screen being 720p. So no, it would not be high end vr, it would be low end vr.

1) The resolution would be horrible

2) The delay would be horrible

If you have a phone there are solutions to do tracking using PS Move, Kinect, Leap Motion, or coloured flashlights. I did a lot of messing around before I actually picked up a dedicated HMD. One software I used is called RiftCat, I think you need to pay but it has built in support for PS Move style tracking using coloured lights, it streams to a phone and receives the gyro data. It even supports tracked controllers.
