My handwriting is pretty awful, so not all girls have neat writing. I prefer to type these days. When I do write, I simply just dot, nothing fancy at all.

it was an "OCD" thing. Sometimes the dot was too small or weak, then I ALWAYS "felt the need" to reinforce it, so I started drawing circles.

They say it is girly because people who do that are mostly girls.

Its a general rule that girls write very neatly. I know a lot of guys with quite neat handwriting and my little sister has handwriting about as scrappy as mine (seriously our handwriting is almost identicle

) I also know girls that write very neatly but enitrely illegibly, its like looking at Medievil texts!

Circles aren't necessarily girly though girls do tend to do that more. If circles are your writing style then go for it, just don't be offended when your teachers mistake your neat writing with lovely circles for a girls' (teachers are very good at telling the gender of a student from writing if the piece is unnamed)

Although I write in cursive anytime I can, I never circle my "i's." I only do that because it's quicker, not because I think circling my "i's" is girly.

I used to do circles for j's and i's. Once I reached college, I phased out of it for some reason... it was probably all the writing I WASN'T doing anymore because every assignment was typed. I still circle i's and j's when I am signing a greeting card to be fancy.

Girly, though? Not really IMHO.

I use manly dots. When I'm writing with a pencil or a pen, I would always have a huge permanent marker beside me. When a dot is needed, I unscrew the cap of my manly permanent marker and have the biggest dot written down and it would even leak through the paper. It might even cover the entire letter or word.

I started cause I thought it looked cute and years later I do it without even realising.

I never ever write a lower case j though, I always put a line on the top like a capital. Pretty weird.

I've also been called girly for my writing since it's very... neat, since most guys' letters are incomprehensible symbols.
I'm usually mistaken for a girl IRL so I'm kind of... used to it? I guess. (see custom title)
In fact, just before I posted this I went to buy dog food and the store clerk thought I was a girl, I corrected her and she was like "wha-?", but I'm used to that too.
