I have spent all morning searching for an answer if there is one.
I found info about sending IM's that's not what I want.
Also found info about Sega Master System (SMS) emulator, but nothing on texting cell phones.

Can someone please point me in the right direction.

Nothing I know of but what about one of those web to SMS things going around and a browser?

yeah I know the ones, but that is not what i want either.

i'm talking about booting up my AceKard and selecting an SMS app, 1,2 punch as it were.
The iPhone has it's text app that uses a plan,
but it also has free text apps that use the web.

I thought maybe by now someone would have done it for the NDS.
I mean NDS already comes with Pictochat, it must be possible to do something similar.
Instead of just NDS to NDS, NDS to Mobile Carrier.
How about NDS to Server to Mobile Carrier.

I don't know i'm just spit balling ideas here.

What you want is an email program and use their carrier and number to send them an email that they'll receive as an SMS.

All that other stuff is impossible.

ok for an example check this web site http://bloove.com

you can download their service straight to a nokia, sony ericsson, samsung or windows mobile device

once it's on your cell you can start texting away.
point being the web to cell is handled by third party, the only thing on the device is the app.

@zeromac ok thanks i'll start searching for it, by the way have you tried this app out yourself? what are your thoughts?

Ok just got the link for TheSmsCenter from zeromac and i thought i'd share it with you guys

thanks again for all your replies!

Ok so there seems to be only The Sms Center for texting.

on the bright side i did find Win2DS, which is awsome.

With Win2DS I access my PC, open Firefox, sign into my yahoo account then send SMS through Email.
Example:[email protected]

So far this is as close to my dream of sending text through a DS (in the US).

Well maybe someday soon The SMS Center will become available to us here in the US.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
