Gaming I recently aquired a Gateway P-7805u FX

It is a really great laptop (1900x1240 resolution

), but while gaming, the graphics card (Nvidia Geforce 9800GTS 1GB) easily goes over 80+ Degrees Celsius (about 180+ Fahrenheit)
I was wondering if anyone else experienced high temps like that on a similar laptop, or if it is a faulty gpu
I use HW Monitor to check my temps.

gfx cards tend to be hot... my nvidia 9800m gtx is sitting at 55C just sitting here looking at firefox.

Yeah that's probably normal since laptops aren't meant for gaming.

You should definitely look into getting a chill pad though.

gaming laptops are meant for gaming... but yeah, ur not gonna run crysis on anything less than like $5000

just make sure to buy a usb mouse or bluetooth or something, is nearly impossible to use a trackpad thing for fpses =P

80+ Degrees Celsius sounds about right, but a notebook cooler is definitely a good idea.

my older FX ermm ATI sumthn runs at a steady 85 Celsius to 95 Celsius

55-65 on idle fyi
