Apple I need to format

I have a problem. For some reason a ad keeps showing up on the top of my iPhone 4 iOS 4.1. When I respring it goes away but come back after a while. I tried to install adblacker but no luck. I also tried ip firewall but also no luck. The only thing I can think of is either format or upgrade. I was wondering if I format can I install iOS 4.1 which I am already on instead of formatting to iOS 4.2.1.

If you have the SHSHs for 4.1, you can restore to it. (If you ever told Cydia to "Make my life easier!", used TinyUmbrella, or used iSHSHit before 4.2.1's release, you probably have them.)

To restore to 4.1, you need to edit the hosts file first. TinyUmbrella can do this for you; in the Advanced tab, make sure "Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit" is checked.

Now (re)start iTunes, and click on your iPhone. Option-click (for Mac OS X) or Shift-click (for Windows) on the "Restore" button, and browse to the IPSW for iOS 4.1.

it looks like all went well but when i went to sync my iphone after the restore my pics and vids didnt come back. I went to see if they were backed up and they werent. Is their anyway i can recover them???

Sorry to hear your data was lost. Unfortunately, there's no way to recover it unless you made a backup.
