Hacking I need some help with the Twilight hack...

Hello.

I just formated my SD card to FAT16(Someguy told me that in windows XP FAT is equal to FAT16 so I formated my SD card)anyways everytime I run the Twilight hack I get this error message:

"FAT_Readfile(boot.elf) failed with error -1'
' as no elf image at adress 90100000 '
' DOL image detected ? '
' loading bimary file... "


Please someone help me Is there anything else that I need to download besides the hack?:S

Well, typically you are suppose to format using FAT anyways.

Do you have your .ELF file named boot.elf and put in the root folder of your SD card? That's what the code runs.

VC/WiiWare WADs should not be renamed to ELF. You need something like the WAD Installer to install them.

(I do see a mention of DOL in that error message, which could mean you're using the DOL instead of the ELF. DOLs are meant for DVD booting, as DOL(phin) was the codename for the Gamecube. Don't use that.)

i had the same error.. format your sd card using this program instead..

assuming that all other files are in place.. it should work..

boot.elf should be at the root of your SD card..
VC wads (example: ffcc:mlak.wad) should be placed in the wad folder.

by the looks of it you got twilight hack working.. formatting the SD card with the link i gave you should work.. worked for me..

All you do is install the program, start it up, pick you sd card drive letter in the in the Drive: area and click format

I use a MicroSD Card in a SD Adaptor and it works fine with the wii.

There is no difference at all between SD, MiniSD or MicroSD. Devices can't tell them apart.

For the record, I was the one who explained how to format your card. Everyone who pointed him toward other formatting tools are misinformed that it's a formatting issue.

That code is very readable, even to a layman.

Obviously it's looking for "boot.elf" and it didn't find it. BUT it did find a DOL image and tried to load it, leading me to believe you copied the wrong file over.

Make sure your file extensions aren't hidden in Windows(the setting is in Folder Options), that should help you some. Then, make sure you're copying the .ELF file over.

Thank you for getting to that before I did.


The ONLY exception to this is SDHC, which has a different partition table and can't be read by FAT16 devices, hence the reason the Wii supports 2GB max.
