Hacking I need of a little help.

So i have a Nintendo 3ds Xl (Ver.6.1.0-12E) and i thought i'd buy a R4i card. I got myself a R4i-sdhc 3DS rts.
Its says that it's (support model are NDSL, NDSI 1.45, 3DS 5.0), i tried to put 1.74 kernel on the card and upgrade it on my DSL, but there no start button for the upgrade.

And the question is: Is my card too old for upgrading or i'm just useless in trying to figure things out.

The Kernel is the firmware for the cart, you will need to see if there is an update file for you to use.

If there is, then it needs to be run on a DS that your cart currently works on.
